The Purpose

I grew up in times when old but perfectly fine looking clothes were handed-down, the not so fine looking ones were donated and the torn ones were transformed. And what transformation? Thicker fabric became TV covers, coasters, make-do mittens, other embellishments and softer ones became wipes based on its qualities it either became a vessel wipe, kitchen counter wipe, table wipe, the floor mop or even bandage! We are now in times where there is too much of 'done-with' fabric that even after going through the down-cycling flow chart there is so much lying around getting hoarded.

Stitched2Save9 was the 'something more' I wanted to do (not because of my background but because it is meaningful and I enjoy it thoroughly). I mainly focus on making upcycled cloth grocery bags affordable and easily available. The sight of plastic bags being picked up at one's whim and fancy really irks me! This effort is a committment and not a business venture so while the bags are affordable, the means of making it easily available is still being worked out. There are several other utility items that I make and this blog will me tracking that ..... me playing with fabric and the outcome. I enjoy making sense out of all the old fabric and tailor scrap that I have collected. I hope extending the lifecycle of the product does make a difference somewhere in the big picture.
